Can Not Upload to Radio With Chirp

k6whp

I checked the previous messages (perfunctorily) and did non see a direct answer to this question and so my apologies for whatsoever repetition. In attempting to modify a code plug (add frequencies) to my FT60R, I thought I'd give  Chirp a whirl.

It read the data from the radio accurately and without incident. However, when I attempted to write the data back out to the radio, the dialog comes up with the vendor and model edit boxes disabled. Any suggestions or ideas?

Thank you in advance!

Did y'all really try to write back to the radio?  While the boxes may have been grayed out, did they still show the FT-60 in the box?

Some folks said I needed to go back to older drivers and others said I had to become newest drivers.

Thinking I volition adjacent endeavor a new computer that started with win10 and was non an upgraded one.

If I get it to work I will post the solution.

This is my typical Chirp workflow:

  • Read current settings from rig (requires setting COM port, make, model).
  • Archive "before" config for later apply.
  • Brand necessary changes to config.
  • Annal "after" config for afterward use.
  • Write updated settings to rig (Chirp already knows rig, options to select make, model disabled).

If y'all create a new tab from scratch, without kickoff reading from the rig, you'll need to select the make, model before saving information technology.

Roll your drivers back to Prolific 3.ii.0.0., if you take a Prolific chipped cablevision. Should work fine, then.

Jawdy has it right.  Curlicue back the drivers to 3.2.0.0 is the key.  Win10 is the devil and by trying to "help" you with a driver update, it breaks CHIRP.

Folks,

Firstly, a Merry Christmas and best wishes for a happy new year to all and thank you lot all for your advice! Note that I believe this to be an idiosyncrasy of the software and not a commuter problem My description was perhaps too brief. Let me enlarge on the circumstances.

The symptom I was reporting was that the "the upload to radio" dialog came up with the Vendor and Model edit boxes coming upwards disabled and for some reason the "OK" button was disabled as well. In little with the software this morning, it allowed me to click OK which sent me to the upload instruction dialog. Following instructions, I dutifully clicked through it, got the radio into "CLONE" manner, and pressed the "Monday" button whereupon the software reported a advice fault. This was done several times without success.

I posted a series of pictures on my blog that show what I am talking about.

Permit's leave it at this: information technology's a wonderful piece of freeware only I am not presently disposed to track downwards and resolve why it volition not write to my FT60R. I exercise not plan on rolling back whatever drivers, install any operating organization patches or become whatsoever new cables. The main reason is that I already have Bob Freeth's marvelous programs for each of the Yaesu radio types I own (an FT60R, 2 VX-150s, an FT7900, an FT2900, and an FT-817) and they work flawlessly.

Were I not so bountifully appointed, I would pursue a resolution more than diligently.

My sincere thanks to 1 and all!

My solution to getting Chirp to work with my three FT-60's was to get a better cablevision.  I purchased a cable which used an FTDI chip rather than a Prolific fleck for the USB to serial conversion.  I haven't had any problems since.  The cable I'yard using is sourced from KJ6ZWL via Amazon (https://world wide web.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FP53ZWE). His company name on Amazon & eBay is "Bluemax49ers".  I've purchased several cables from him and not been disappointed.
